HOPEHIV
HOPEHIV is about the generation of hope. We support children and young people in sub-Saharan Africa orphaned or affected by HIV/AIDS. They have the potential to make Africa's future one of hope, rather than despair.
HOPEHIV's work generates real hope through:
- Emotional and social support
- Education
- Economic empowerment
- Child rights
Our UK office is building a network to support community-based projects in Africa. Those projects are selected and monitored by our team in South Africa and Tanzania.
At present, HOPEHIV is helping some 50,000 vulnerable children and young people though 40 partner organisations in 400 communities in sub-Saharan Africa.
The charity landscape is blurred with organisations helping African orphans. We are defined by:
- Productive partnerships: We help projects generate income or access grants. We help companies make CSR more meaningful. We help schools enrich curricula. We help people connect, not just give and receive
- Investment: We seek social return on investment and local partners for long term results
- Enterprise and innovation: We encourage entrepreneurship with fundraising in the UK and income generation in Africa. We seek projects that solve old problems in new ways
- Being positive and passionate about potential: By helping to realise the potential of individuals, we are changing the future from the bottom up
